Chandler Parsons: The Closer

Parsons is learning. After settling for a 65-footer to win the game for the Gators against N.C. State three weeks ago, Parsons got his puppies set just beyond the 3-point arc to give Florida a thrilling 58-56 win over South Carolina today. (Didn’t I say this would be a good one, folks?)

Getting a buzzer-beater is great, but I love when one team makes a frenzied play in the waning seconds, then another delivers the knockout blow. See how South Carolina nearly had this one:

Let’s point out the great things about this video.

1) Devan Downey escapes the double-team, dribbles through the entire Florida “defense” and hits a ridiculous mid-air shot to give his team the lead on the road. Nessler can hardly believe it. Jimmy Dykes lets out a great, “WOW!”

2) Parsons is running up the floor and begging for the ball a few seconds before he receives it. He’s clapping his hands, opening up his arms and has the ice water pumping. He knew he could hit it before the play developed.

3) Poor Darrin Horn’s reaction and the kid screaming bloody murder behind him. Please, rewind and rewatch many times. I think we need a .gif. Anyone?

4) The dog pile on the hardwood. Just a fun January moment in college ball. Life is good in Gainesville tonight.
