Rush Limbaugh Tells People Not To Donate Money To Haiti
This one is from the idiot files….!!!!
What did Rush Limbaugh say about Haiti? According to the NY Daily News the bombastic right wing talker is taking fire “for advising people not to donate to Haitian relief through the fund set up by the White House.” Limbaugh’s argument is that the US Government will not do a good job of distributing the money.
Many would agree with that, but when Limbaugh added that we already ‘donate’ to Haiti through the ‘US income tax,’ many took that as a sign that people shouldn’t donate at all, while others thought he sounded cold and uncaring. He argued donating though the government is foolish.
According to the report, Limbaugh believes “you’ll probably just end up on an Obama campaign mailing list as well and the Post adds he thinks “a big chunk of your donation will get siphoned off by government bureaucrats.”

The comment that has so many angry at the broadcaster is reported this way from the LA Times. “We’ve already donated to Haiti,” Limbaugh told the caller on his radio show. “It’s called the U.S. income tax.”
Some say that means Limbaugh is arguing not to donate. President Obama has dedicated $100 million for immediate relief efforts in Haiti.
The American people have used their cell phones to text and help those hit so hard by the crisis in Haiti by donating more than $8 million to the American Red Cross for Haiti relief — $10 dollars at a time — by texting HAITI to 90999. More Americans continue to give.

Limbaugh says the controversy is ridiculous and he wants people to donate and Rush explains here. On his website Rush says, “Of Course, I Never Told Anyone Not to Donate to a Charitable Cause, “in a headline dubbing it “another in a long line of made up controversies.”
LIMBAUGH: Would you trust the money’s gonna go to Haiti?
CALLER: No.
LIMBAUGH: But would you trust that your name is gonna end up on the mailing list for the Obama people to start asking you for campaign donations for him and other causes?
CALLER: Absolutely.
LIMBAUGH: Absolutely right.
CALLER: That’s the point.
LIMBAUGH: Besides, we’ve already donated to Haiti. It’s called the U.S. income tax.
